You will see the plastic curl up and then it will flatten back out. At first, the Shrinky Dinks will curl up, but then they will flatten back out. Keep sheets flat in a file folder or plastic sleeve to prevent curling. In just a few minutes, usually 1 to 3, they begin to curl, twist, and then flatten as they shrink. When they see the plastic twist, curl, and then flatten out again, they get so excited.
The plastic will suddenly start to contort and move in different directions. Hold it down gently using a wooden skewer, or something similar, as once you apply the heat it will start to twist and turn. Being neat is not important, as you will cut out the image and shrinking concentrates the colour.
